The Darfur-School Project:
As a first project to support, “Live for Life” chose the school building project from “Darfur Hilfe e.V.”, amongst others because of the fact that the conflict in Darfur is currently one of the worst humanitarian catastrophes.
Another criteria for the decision was the international dimension of the project and therefore the possibility to be able to inform about political backgrounds in this way.
The project concerns school building close to a refugee camp in Tiné, a border town which is separated by the border between Chad and Sudan and belongs half to the administration of Chad and half to the administration of Sudan.

Die Republik Sudan ist ein Staat in Nordost-Afrika mit Zugang zum Roten Meer und grenzt im Norden an Ägypten und Libyen, im Westen an Tschad und die Zentralafrikanische Republik, im Süden an die Demokratische Republik Kongo, Uganda und Kenia und im Osten an Äthiopien und Eritrea. Die Krisenregion Darfur liegt im Westen des Sudans und besitzt ungefähr die Größe Frankreichs. Dort leben traditionell afrikanische Stämme wie die "Fur" (Darfur = Land der Fur) in Konkurrenz zu arabischen Stämmen. Die Feindschaft zwischen diesen Bevölkerungsgruppen findet ihren Ursprung bereits in vorkolonialer Zeit und entstand vor allem durch ihre gegensätzliche Lebensweise:
